Teach With Intention
Before introducing an activity, ask:
What do I want children to learn or practice?
The activity itself isn’t the objective.
For example:
Activity
Children sort buttons.
Possible learning goal
Children will sort objects according to one observable characteristic.
That distinction helps teachers select experiences that actually support learning. It is the same thinking that drives Pre-K lesson planning.
